A few weeks ago, I blogged about helping a couple remodel their master bathroom in North Raleigh, NC. Now we are moving on to their kitchen. The homeowners were committed to updating their house room by room. Their previous kitchen was in good shape but it was not the look the homeowners wanted. It was probably 20 years old and the style was dated. So a major remodel was in order! Please take a look at the dramatic before and afters.
It has been a while since my last post and I am excited to share what I have been working on! Some friends of mine purchased a new “old” house in North Raleigh that needed a little TLC. They asked for my help and I was glad to jump in. The couple wanted to modernize their bathroom and make it feel more like “their home.” A major bathroom remodel is never an easy task but their results are amazing. Check out the before and after photos.

We love our porches and patios in the South. They are an extension of our home and a great place for family and friends to gather and enjoy the outdoors. Here are a few inspiring outdoor spaces to get you revved up for summer…..

I’m sure you have noticed the influx of garden stools in home decor magazines and furniture stores. Garden stools originated during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and were originally used in the garden. Today, garden stools are gaining popularity in interior design. Their small scale design and versatility allow them to adapt to almost an room in the house from the living room to the bathroom. They are easily moved from place to place and provide an extra seat or spot to set a drink or book. The best thing about garden stools is that they are easily available, relatively inexpensive and come in a variety of shapes and colors. Enjoy some pictures of this hard working little stool!
Have you been trying to think of ways to decorate a bare wall in your home, consider hanging a collage of your favorite photos or artwork. A picture collage allows you to add interest to a large bare wall without investing in oversized and expensive artwork. Pictures collages are also a personal and beautiful way to showcase your family treasures.
To keep a collage from looking visually cluttered, try using black and white photography.
To achieve a more formal look, use matching frames hung symmetrically.
These simple sketches appear more important when hung together as a group.
If you are adventurous and want to give the collage more dimension, try mixing in 3 dimensional objects to add visual interest.

Daybeds are no longer just for the bedroom, they have made a name for themselves in the living room. I am not talking about an old fashion brass daybed, but a fully upholstered daybed perfectly suited for any gathering space. Think bench meets sofa with style!
Let me show you…
This daybed works as a room divider without obstructing the view to the dining area, leaving the room feeling open and airy.
Look how this daybed can be used in either seating area. Great for entertaining!
