Chevron! Chevron! Chevron!

Unless you have been asleep for the past couple of years, you have surely noticed the abundance of chevron! A series of connected, inverted Vs, the bold chevron pattern makes a strong impact wherever it is used. Despite its daring reputation, chevron can be a perfect choice even for the most serene home. Just imagine settling in to relax in this beautiful space:

Things I would like to do in this room: take a five hour minute nap; gaze out the window; lounge for hours and read a favorite book; sit across from you and catch up; and yell at my kids to get their dirty, sticky, little hands off the sofas and drapes. That last part destroys the serene feeling, I know, but let’s focus on the rug instead. Remove the chevron rug and the room is still lovely, but it doesn’t pack the same patterned punch. I love the mix of tangerine pillows and different patterns in the room – nothing overwhelms the senses, but the contrast is pitch-perfect.

 

A pretty-in-pink painted floor? What an inspired way to include chevron in your décor! Good luck with that. If you have the patience and skill to make this happen, I want to see pictures!

 

An unexpected place to find a pattern, this simple bookshelf has been transformed into a dazzling backdrop for displaying favorite items. Know what else? That’s fabric. Oh, yes it is! So if you feel inspired to try this look, you can just hightail it right over to your favorite fabric shop and skip the tedious paint job that this would surely be.

 

Here is another fun way to use chevron, this time in a little girl’s room. On every wall? The pattern would have you leaving the room to refocus your eyes, but on a single accent wall, the result is enchanting!

I don’t know if you want to lose your mind at the chevron store, although everything you see is bound to be crazy cute. Too much of this bold pattern might have you involuntarily crossing your eyes, so watch it, you! If a semi-permanent statement such as a painted wall has you feeling a little timid, know that you don’t have to commit to incorporating it into your design completely. You can use pillows, rugs, lamps, and other accessories to spruce up your space.
